LMR Radio Technician

Land Mobile Radio | Two-Way Radio | RF Communications

Are you an experienced Radio Technician who enjoys troubleshooting complex communication systems, working with advanced RF technology, and keeping critical communications running smoothly?

We are seeking a skilled and dependable LMR Radio Technician to install, program, maintain, diagnose, and repair Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems and two-way radio communication equipment. We need a Field Service Technician who is Knowledgeable of commercial and public safety LMR radio systems a must. Work is performed outdoors and indoors at office, customer locations and tower sites. Must be capable of lifting equipment up to 75lbs. Applicant will be responsible for programming, setup and installation of mobiles in vehicles and for fixed site equipment at customer and company owned tower sites.

In this hands-on technical role, you will work with radio systems supporting public safety agencies, commercial businesses, government organizations, and other industries that depend on reliable wireless communications.

What You'll Do

• Install, configure, program, maintain, and repair Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems and two-way radio equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot RF communication problems, including signal interference, coverage issues, and equipment failures.
• Service portable radios, mobile radios, repeaters, base stations, antennas, and associated communication equipment.
• Perform RF testing using spectrum analyzers, service monitors, wattmeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
• Program and configure analog and digital radio systems, including P25, DMR, and trunked radio networks.
• Install and maintain radio equipment in vehicles, buildings, communication sites, and other designated locations.
• Troubleshoot electronic circuits, wiring, connectors, antennas, and communication infrastructure.
• Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, and system performance testing.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service manuals.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and equipment configurations.
• Work with customers and technical teams to resolve communication issues and minimize system downtime.
• Follow FCC regulations, industry standards, and workplace safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing two-way radio or RF communication systems.
• Knowledge of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) technology and radio frequency principles.
• Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, RF service monitors, or spectrum analyzers.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits, RF signal issues, and communication equipment.
• Understanding of VHF, UHF, and/or 700/800 MHz radio systems.
• Ability to read technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other technicians.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer or communication sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with APCO P25 Phase 1 and Phase 2 digital radio systems.
• Familiarity with conventional, trunked, and simulcast radio networks.
• Experience supporting public safety radio communication systems.
• Knowledge of DMR, NXDN, or other digital radio technologies.
• Experience with radio repeater systems, antenna installations, and RF coverage testing.
• Familiarity with IP networking and network-connected radio infrastructure.
• FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or ETA International electronics certification.
• Previous experience as a Two-Way Radio Technician, RF Technician, Communications Technician, or Electronics Technician.
